Natrium Hidroksida (NaOH) is a kind of caustic metal base. NaOH is formed from the basic oxide sodium oxide dissolved in water. Chemistry Sodium hydroxide forms strong alkaline solutions when dissolved in water. Sodium hydroxide or NaOH has Mr (relative molecular mass) of 40 g / mol. The function of NaOH in the water filter process is as a regeneration medium for anion resin types. This NaOH must be placed separately in the brine tank and connected via a hose to the main tank containing the anion resin filter media. When regeneration occurs, NaOH will mix into the main tank and will reactivate the anion resin which was initially saturated.
